Our day begins with the rich and green nature reservation known as Tel Dan. This place hosts one of the most important springs in the Middle East, and amazing archaeological excavations of the ancient town of Dan. If you are coming on one of the cruise excursions to Israel, make sure it stops either in the port of Haifa or Akko.
3,000 years ago, the city of Dan was founded. Many striking and world-renowned revelations have been found after excavating the area. During your visit, you will make the connection between what lies in front of your very eyes and what is written in the Bible about these events.
In addition to this, you will gain a deeper understanding of the Golan Heights as you cross the Jordan River. Once there, we will climb up and stop to appreciate the many amazing views over the Jordan Valley in the west, and to the east a view that spreads from Bental to Hauran and beyond. We will evaluate the geographic structure of the area and how it influenced history, the archaeological findings, and the agricultural areas and their function nowadays.
Our path will lead us to visit a winery, a chocolate factory, and a Kibbutz. These reflect the agricultural life in the area. On our way there, we will pass via Kazerin, the only Israeli city built in the Golan Heights, and via a few Druze Villages.
Alternative Route:
For more adventurous travelers who are willing to cut back on time at other sites, the option of rafting on the waters of the Jordan River is available. This can also be followed by a jeep trek from the river’s valley to the Golan Heights, or hiking.
